Every business here is in the HireLocksmiths directory. We audit the directory on a rolling basis — looking for a real local business behind the name and a phone number that is the business's own — and we remove listings that close, move away or turn out to be call-centre fronts. The order is: any Featured placement first (paid, and labelled as such), then everyone else by public review score at the time of listing. Nobody can pay to move up otherwise, and we never write or edit reviews.

California is one of the minority of states that licenses locksmiths at state level, through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. Before anyone touches your lock in San Diego, ask for the C-28 Lock and Security Equipment Contractor licence number and check it against the state register — a legitimate California locksmith will expect the question and answer it without hesitating.
